I’m Nate.

I’m a gardener, cook and artist – I make things with my hands and love to  experiment.  I tend to run before I can walk in all things creative and often make a mess because of it.  I’m ok with that.

I also love reading, history, documentaries, biology.  I could read all night and day quite happily.  Some of my favourite authors include Stephen Baxter, George R. R. Martin,  Jean Auel, Lois McMaster Bujold, Anne Rice.  I have a kindle, on which I’m making my way through many of the free classics available via ManyBooks.

I’m interested in stuff. I like finding out about interesting things.  I have a terrible memory, though, so I can’t remember many of them =(

I started this blog after stopping with an old gaming blog.  The name I chose for this blog reflected that – ‘/hug’ or ‘slashhug’ is an emote used in games, ‘afk’ meaning away from keyboard was meant to reflect the fact that this was a blog about what I did when I wasn’t sitting in front of the laptop.

I don’t keep to a set schedule – though I try to post at least once a week.  I dither between spurts of gardening and cooking and the blog posts reflects that.  There are also occasional cat photos.
